Our return to Rocklands included amazing weather and lots of laughs. Check out these photos as well as the avant-garde short film made by alpha athletes and mentors on the trip.

Greece Summer 2023

Our trip to Greece in June/July was one for the memories. Greece never disappoints and here are some photos to prove it.

Summer 2020 in Montana and Wyoming

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to cancel our deep water solo trip to Mallorca, Spain, as well as a sport climbing trip to Waterval Boven, South Africa. We were able to pull together a contingent trip to Maiden Rocks, Montana, as well as an extended road trip style program in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming. In addition, we added a 2nd Bighorns Climbing Camp for ages 11-14. In total, 29 youth from all over the USA came together for 5 weeks of climbing.

Rocklands, South Africa Bouldering, July 17-August 14, 2018

We returned to Rocklands in 2018 with a small group for a 5 week trip. Our crew thrived in mostly good weather, with lots of cool crisp days and nights. Camping at De Pakhuys for 5 weeks provided ample opportunity to get to know the international scene visiting the Cederberg.

Greece Sport Climbing, June 18-July 6, 2018

The southern Peloponnese of Greece contains an incredible amount of heavily featured limestone. The past decade has seen loads of development supported by local and international climbers alike, as well as funding from the national climbing federation and local communities. The newly developed crags around Kyparissi and Richea made for an ideal destination for our group of 8. The Greek lifestyle had a huge influence on our athletes. We met a local, Gus, who invited us into his home, fed us food from his garden and his own olive oil, and shared local tips on how to maximize our trip. Beach going and sightseeing made for a truly memorable trip for all.

Rocklands, South Africa Bouldering, July 18-August 9, 2017

Our group of 6 climbers and 2 staff were treated to an amazing three weeks with almost no rain, and ideal temps. Rocklands has definitely seen a growth in popularity in the past few year, but despite the increased attention, our group still found quiet and isolated boulders. Rocklands is a place to play, but it's also a place to be serious about climbing. It's possible to wander all day, climbing boulder after boulder, or, to set up on a worthy project. Check out our Instagram feed for lots of images from the trip. Here's a video of Cole Janssen climbing one of Rocklands' most beautiful boulders:

Mallorca, Spain Deep Water Solo and Sport Climbing Trip, June 19-July 6, 2017

The island paradise Mallorca is home to the world's best deep water solo climbing. It is accessible, relatively safe, and incredibly fun. Our group of 7 athletes and 2 mentors samples some of the most iconic sectors of the island, including Cova Del Diablo and Cala Varques. We stayed in a rental house in Porto Cristo and enjoyed a 10 minute walk to Diablo. Everyone came up with some impressive efforts and sends, as high as 60' above the Mediterranean. We also spent 4 days sport climbing at Fraguel, home of Mallorca's hardest sport line, and Ermita de Betlem, one of the most beautiful sport crags in Spain. Other highlights of the trip included an epic fish barbecue, and an adventure beach hike on the island's remote NE corner.

St. George, Utah Sport Climbing March 24-April 3, 2017

alpha climbing's first trip visited the St. George area of SW Utah to sample some of the best limestone in the desert southwest. We spent a week crimping on razor sharp edges and pockets, pushing on-sight grades, and building confidence for the oncoming sport season.
